1917 Australia War Censor Cover cd Field Post Office-Claraville Wartime Censor Cover cancelled with a Framed double ringed FIELD POST OFFICE 7 NO 17 C3 cancel on front. This date stamp was in use with both the 3rd Calvary, and the 3rd Australian Infantry Brigade, but due to the time frame of this cover, this cancel is for the later of the two. Cover has a Passed By Censor 3541 cachet on front, and a signature by Lt Col. Rupert Anstice Rafferty DSO. Cover sent to Claraville, South Australia, Australia, and has been opened at top edge. Cover comes with an informative sheet, that discusses many elements of the cover and the cancel. Cover has some evident tearing damage to back flap, some scuffing and creasing on edges and corners, some age wear on both sides, and some toning marks on both sides.
