1947 Soviet Union Postcard ties 2 Stamps cd Gorky-Melbourne Registered Postcard with a preprinted 20K Red Definitive stamp on front, and a 1R Greenish Black The 100th Anniversary of the Birth of I.I.Mechnikov stamp both on front cancelled with a Framed Double Ringed GORKY? 22? 11 46 cancel on stamps. Cancel is unclear, but item likely passed through Moscow on its was to Melbourne, Australia due to presence of Moscow transit cancel on front dated to 30 11 46. Item also has a registered GORKY cachet on front, and a Perth transit cancel on back dated to 11 MR 47. Card also has a Melbourne transit cancel on back dated to 20 MR 47, and a Parkville recieivng cancel dated to 21 MR 47. Card pertains to the desire to obtain a reprint of a paper on animal poisons and other similar papers. Card has some tear damage on bottom edge, some scuffing and creasing on edges and corners, some age wear on both sides, and some general wear to both sides.
