1949 Great Britain Taxed Cover ties 2 Stamps cd Hertford-Basle Taxed Cover with a 2.5d Ultramarine KGVI stamp on front cancelled with a Framed HERTFORD 17 AUG 1949 cancel on front. Cover also has a 7 Bar Roller cancel across stamp, and a Surcharged owing to insufficient postage prepaid 2.5d instead of 3d cachet on back. Cover sent to Basel, Switzerland, with a 15c Red Numeral Postage Due Switzerland Stamp on front cancel on front cancelled with a Framed BASEL 22 VIII 49 receiving cancel on stamp. 15c stamp is also cancelled with a 1 7c FS tax cachet. Cover has been opened at top edge. Cover has some tearing damage to back flap and top edge from opening, some scuffing/creasing on corners and edges, and some mild age wear and general wear to both sides.
