1958 United States Geophysical Year Cover ties 6c Stamp cd US Navy Airmail International Geophysical Year Operation Deep Freeze Task Force 43 Cover with a 6c Blue B-52 Stratofortress and F-104 Starfighters stamp on front cancelled with a Framed US NAVY OCT 21 1958 cancel on stamp. Cover also has 2 Hallett Station Geophysical Year cachets on front, a Postage Due 1c cachet on front, and a US Naval Support Units Deep Freeze III cachet on back. Operation Deep Freeze is the Code name for United States missions to Antarctica, both for Scientific and resupplying purposes. There have been numerous Deep Freeze operations, and the program is still ongoing today. Cover also has some signatures from the members of the operation. Cover sent to Washington, DC, USA, and has not been opened. Cover has some scuffing on edges and corners, some creasing on corners, some mild tearing on stamp top edge, and some general wear to both sides.
