1962 Tonga Canoe Mail Cover ties 2 stamps cd Niuafoou-Castlecrag
Matson Lines Advert Cover with 2 stamps from the The 75th Anniversary of Tongan Postal Service series, one being 4d Green the other 5d Bluish Violet. Stamps are cancelled with a framed NIUAFOOU 6 MR 62 TONGA cancel on stamps. Cover also has a TONGA ISLANDS DISPATCHED BY CANOE MAIL cachet on front, a MAILED AT SEA ABROAD S S MONTEREY Matson Lines cachet on back, and a TIN CAN ISLAND CANOE MAIL cachet on front. Cover sent to Castlecrag, Sydney, Australia, and has been opened at top edge. Cover has some scuffing on edges and corners, some age wear on back, some toning and marking on back, some tear damage to top from opening, and some general wear to both sides.
